Technical Firearms Training was born out of a necessity for a place to get formal training in Northwest Kansas, Southwest Nebraska, and Eastern Colorado. When I went looking for training , the closest I could find was 250 miles away. I have been shooting guns all of my life. I grew up in a hunting family. Handguns sparked my interest about 25 years ago. I got a Concealed carry permit about 2 years after they were available here in Kansas. I shot in IDPA competitions with the CENTRAL KANSAS PRAIRIE SHOOTERS in Ellsworth Kansas for 3 years, but my job got very busy and I could not make that 3 hour drive to shoot once a month anymore. After I changed jobs in 2019, I started shooting again and I could tell that I wasn’t as good as I once was. That started my search for training. As I was searching , it was being reported on many platforms about the millions of first time gun buyers joining the ranks in 2020. Those people are going to need training also. So I chose to get training to be an Instructor. I traveled to those far away training facilities ,several times and spent many, many hours in the classroom and on the range, shooting up ammo that I likely would not be able to replace because of the shortage. I found that my longtime passion for teaching people to shoot was burning more than ever, so I started this company towards the end of 2020. There are a few people teaching concealed carry in our area, and now there is one more, but no one is teaching ground level basic fundamentals for shooters of all stages to either build on or fall back on.
